VOLUnteer II
Advanced Framework for the Mitigation and Management of Flood and Multi-Hazard Risks Based on an Existing Civil Protection Cross-Border Network
Building resilience across borders
Building on an existing civil protection cross-border network, the project brings together technological tools, training and educational activities, operational cooperation, awareness-raising and communication actions to support local communities, public authorities, civil protection organisations, volunteer groups and other relevant stakeholders.
Through cross-border cooperation, knowledge sharing and the active involvement of volunteers and institutions, VOLUNTEER II contributes to a more informed, coordinated and resilient approach to floods and interconnected multi-hazard risks in the Greece–North Macedonia cross-border area.

Project Partnership
The Programme
The Programme enables public authorities, private non-profit organisations and other institutions to work together to address common challenges and develop smarter solutions in the Greek regions of Thessaloniki, Kilkis, Pella, Serres, Florina and Kozani, and in the North Macedonian regions of Vardar, Pelagonia, Southeast and Southwest.
The Programme’s strategic objective is “to enhance territorial cohesion by improving living standards and employment opportunities, while respecting the environment and making sustainable use of natural resources for tourism”.
The total budget of the Programme for the 2021–2027 period is €33.3 million.
